Toronto to present faculty recital

Mezzo-soprano Emily Toronto, professor of voice at South Dakota State University, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Pianist Carson Covey, an alumnus of SDSU, will accompany the program. The recital will also feature fellow faculty member Immanuel Abraham on violin.

The recital, “Dreamscape,” features works by composers Louise Reichardt, Isabella Colbran, Johannes Brahms and Claude Debussy. The program will also include four art songs by 20th-century American composer, teacher and writer Marion Eugénie Bauer and the South Dakota premiere of Roxanna Panufnik’s “That Mighty Heart,” as well as an arrangement of “His Voice as the Sound of the Dulcimer Sweet” for violin, mezzo-soprano and piano by Jennifer Rhodes.
