Kuang to present faculty recital

Xuan Kuang, instructor of group piano and artistic collaboration at South Dakota State University, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

Xuan Kuang, instructor of group piano and artistic collaboration at South Dakota State University, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

This recital will feature works by Villa-Lobos, Schumann, Chu Wanghua, Debussy, Dvořák and Brookings resident Donald O. Johnston. Mary Ermel will assist on the piano.

Seen regularly on the Founders Recital Hall stage with other musicians in the SDSU School of Performing Arts, Kuang holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa. She has been associated with the school since 2017.

Kuang is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Brookings Music Teachers Association and also maintains a private piano studio in Brookings.
