Mason to present junior recital

Brennan Mason, a music education major at South Dakota State University, will present his junior recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall on the SDSU campus.

Brennan Mason, a music education major at South Dakota State University, will present his junior recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall on the SDSU campus.

The Sioux Falls native plays the bassoon, and his primary instructor is John Tomkins.

Mason will perform works by W.A. Mozart, Paul Hindemith, Alberto Orefici, Amy Beach and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. He will be accompanied by Xuan Kuang on piano, with assistance from Kamal Albousafi on saxophone and fellow members of the SDSU Wind Quintet: Bri Renneker on flute, Emma Jensen on oboe, Lauren Harstad on clarinet and Eden Hodgins on horn.

At SDSU, Mason has been involved in the Wind Symphony, SDSU Civic Orchestra and The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band. He is the student founder of the SDSU Wind Quintet.
