The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts welcomes concert pianist Grigor Khachatryan for a solo recital focused on the music of Frédéric Chopin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

While in Brookings, Khachatryan will also interact with the Brookings Music Teachers Association.

Khachatryan, an international concert artist, has received acclaim for his recordings and performances alike and has been featured on the cover of International Piano magazine. His concert at SDSU will focus entirely on the lesser-known pieces that Chopin composed during his youth and teenage years.

“Having the opportunity for our students to hear Chopin’s youthful music, written at an age similar to the students themselves, is a rare and exciting treat,” said Mark Stevens, assistant professor of music at SDSU.

The event is free, and the public is invited to attend. For more information, please contact the SDSU School of Performing Arts at 605-688-5187.
